History

  • Our first Chirstmas display in Lowes Island was in 2005.
  • Your host (Ed Urbaniak) has been putting up holiday light displays since he was about 12 (38+ years ago).
  • In 2012, we had 19,506 Christmas lights up.
  • In 2013, we had 28,893 lights for Christmas.
  • For Christmas 2014, we will have between 50,000 and 60,000 lights.
  • 2012 was our first year synchronizing to music.
  • Our first computerized display was in 2003 in Herndon, VA.
  • For that display and through 2011, we used X-10 to control our lights.
  • We use software and hardware from light-o-rama to synchronize our show.
  • We have over 1 mile of extension cords in the display (most are custom made).
  • For 2014, we will have 37 AC controllers, 3 DMX Pixel controllers, 4 DMX flood lights and 1 DC controller.
